My motion projects consist of shorter form, medium form as well as longer form video content. From real-world news drafts from a summer internship to a full-length high school football documentary, striving to cover all angles of what video work has to offer is ultimately the standard.
Daniel Hand High Varsity Football @ Guilford High School | The Extended Cut
Revisiting my alma mater, Guilford High School, to creatively capture the magic that goes into their annual thanksgiving rivalry football game against Daniel Hand High School is always special.
The fall that I produced this video was the fall of my junior year at Syracuse University. During Syracuse's football season that year, I closely watched their "Extended Cut" videos, highlighting all on-field and off-field activity for the team. By doing this, I wanted to closely replicate my own version of this creative concept by covering Guilford's game.
At the core of this video is the concept of "The Guilford Cave", which in essence is the community aspect of Guilford, Connecticut sports, spanning from youth to high school. The coming together to "Protect the Cave" attempts to tell the story of how these players and coaches protect something that represents something larger than themselves.
Underdogs - A Connecticut Shoreline High School Football Story
Similar to the video above, the magic of this annual high school rivalry game draws out the excitement from the crowd, players, coaches and alumni every single year.
In my first full-length documentary, I sat down with the first-year Football Head Coach, Brian White, and got the inside scoop as to what this rivalry with Daniel Hand High School and the town of Madison really means, especially to a former Guilford High School student-athlete and resident of the town of Guilford.
This rivalry game, in the sport of Football, has been severely lopsided, with Daniel Hand having won every game since 2006 and 45 of 51 meetings. However, when this documentary was made in 2023, Guilford had some extreme hype around them, with the chances of knocking off Daniel Hand in this game for the first time in almost 20 years.
By putting my own creative spin on this great shoreline story allowed me to flesh out an age-old tradition on the Connecticut Shoreline.
WTNH - News 8: Summer 2024 Internship
Shadowing, as well as working hands-on with various television cameras used to film day-to-day news stories, allowed me to expand my craft. Creatively collaborating with numerous editors and field photographers has not only helped me understand the type of focus, energy, and grit that it takes to succeed in the news world, but helped me gain an appreciation for the line of work.
Close guidance and team work from Adam Francis and Ryan Bernat has helped me sharpen my Adobe Premiere Pro editing abilities, as well as how to craft a high-yielding story with creative elements and visual identities.
